Local Travel Information

Santa Barbara has a small local airport (code SBA) located very closely adjacent the UCSB campus; however, there are not a large number of flights each day. As of this writing, Southwest, United, Alaska, and American each have flights in and out of this airport.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will provide many more flight options, but is located ~110 miles (~170 km) from UCSB. If you choose this option, rental cars are available (book early, because selection can be limited and prices can be high during the summer tourist season). Santa Barbara Airbus provides several daily bus trips from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Santa Barbara. Reservations are strongly recommended. You will get off at the GOLETA stop. Please see: www.sbairbus.com

Maps and Parking

ISHC Congress Map

A campus map showing pertinent locations on the UCSB campus can be downloaded here.

Parking

Parking permits are required at all times on campus. Be cautious of where you park. Guests are responsible for following parking rules and for any penalties (refer to the campus map).

Attendees Staying Off Campus or at The Club & Guest House

ePermits may be purchased from the pay stations located in lots throughout campus. Additionally, Park Mobile is available in most visitor lots throughout campus, allowing visitors to skip the pay station and conveniently pay for parking through their phone.

Parking for visitors is $8/day for weekdays and $4/day for weekend days

Park in Structure 22 (with a permit) and walk to the University Center.

For the Sunday evening opening reception and registration ONLY: You may purchase a permit for and park in Lot 3 if you prefer. Visitor parking is not permitted in this lot during the week.

Attendees from other UC Campus: Attendees from other UC campuses can click here for full information on UC Reciprocity visitor parking.

Attendees staying in Manzanita Village, you will receive specific parking information separately.

Parking for Housing

Parking permits are required on campus at all times. If you drive to campus, please print out this temporary 60-minute parking permit and place it in your driver’s side windshield for check-in. This will allow you to park in many spaces, but please refer to the permit for restrictions. Without this permit, you could get a citation before you pick up your long-term parking permit.

Be cautious of where you park. Guests are responsible for following parking rules and for any penalties (refer to the campus map).

You will obtain your long-term complimentary campus permit for Parking Structure 22 at the front desk when you check in.

Attendees from other UC campuses can click here for full information on UC Reciprocity visitor parking.

  • Masking/Symptom Screening: Guests are required to follow the current campus guidelines on masking and symptom screening. Furthermore, the ISHC requests that all attendees wear facemasks while in the lecture rooms, to ensure that all participants feel comfortable.
  • Vaccination: All attendees must either be up to date (including any booster doses when eligible) with a COVID vaccine that is authorized by the World Health Organization (WHO) OR they must provide proof of a negative COVID test upon arrival and test regularly during their time on campus.
  • Unvaccinated Individuals and Individuals Who are Not Up-To-Date* on their Vaccination: Must produce a negative test result upon arrival (24 hours for antigen test or 72 hours for PCR test). Every 7 days while onsite, they must produce a negative test.
  • Testing: Individual attendees or conference organizations should provide their own COVID tests, as testing on campus is only available to staff and students with a Perm Number and NetID. Community testing is offered; however, appointments are often not immediately available.
  • Quarantine/Isolation Housing: Pending availability, provided only to guests with a Perm Number and NetID. All other guests would need to relocate off-campus within 24 hours if they test positive for COVID-19.
  • Local Regulations: Attendees must comply with any additional COVID-19 related procedures that may be implemented by the University, County, or State.

*A person is considered up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations when they have received all recommended COVID-19 vaccinations, including booster doses when eligible. People who are not up to date on their COVID-19 vaccinations include: (i) people of all ages, including children, who have not completed a series of primary vaccinations to protect against COVID-19; (ii) individuals <2 weeks after the primary vaccination series; (iii) individuals with an approved exception or deferral to UC Policy: SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program; (iv) persons who have completed a primary vaccination series and are eligible for the booster, but have not received a booster dose.
